Welcome to my homepage.
I am a materials scientist working on structure and properties of materials and new processing technology for biomedical, industrial, and energy storage applications.
As a research staff member at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in the Materials Processing Group and Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering I am studying the mechanical and functional properties of thin films and coatings and developing photonic processing technologies and nanomaterials.
Read a story or watch a news video about my dental research on WBIR Channel 10. This research is in collaboration with University of Illinois' Dr. James Drummond, Boston University's Dr. Russell Giordano, and UT's Dr. Narendra Dahotre.
Furthermore, I am engaged in a variety of professional organisations as well as international networking activities. For example, I am University of Tennessee's coordinating contact for the International Network Promoting Materials Science and Engineering.
If you are interested in my work, in collaboration, or in consultancy, come in and inform you about my professional background and my experiences.
Yours Claus Daniel
